CIS270 Essentials of Network and Information Security 3 Credits

Threats to security of information systems; responsibilities and basic tools for information security, including communication security, infrastructure security, organizational security and basic cryptography. Introduction to the language of network security and hardware, software and firmware components of an information security system for local, metropolitan, enterprise, and wide area networks. Helps prepare participants for the Comptia Security+ exam and the GIAC Security Essentials Certificate (GSEC).

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in BPC270 or CIS190 or CNT140AB or MST150++ or permission of Instructor.

In-depth exploration of how to effectively install and configure Windows 10. Includes features of Windows 10, virtualization improvements, network connectivity, access to resources, monitor and maintain Windows clients and backup and recovery. ITS110 Information Security Fundamentals 3 Credits

Fundamental concepts of information technology security. Topics include authentication methods, access control, cryptography, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), network attack and defense methods, hardening of operating systems and network devices, securing remote access and wireless technologies and securing infrastructures and topologies. Emphasis on hands-on labs in both the Windows and Linux environments. Builds on thorough understanding of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and security concepts and Microsoft (MS) Windows and Linux Administration.

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS126DL, or CIS126RH, or permission of Program Director. Corequisites: BPC270 or MST150++.

Class 15872 has recorded lectures/demonstrations and access to live labs. This class helps prepare students for the VMware Certified Professional – DataCenter Virtualization (VCP-DCV) exam and upon successful completion students will receive a discounted voucher for the exam.

Class 15872 does not meet on campus and is totally self-paced but has due dates for assignments and activities submissions. The class will cover vSphere 6.7 and has many hours of recorded discussion, lecture and demonstrations to help you with learning the content of the class. You will have access to live labs that relate to course content. This class is intended to help prepare you for the “VMware vSphere 6.7 Foundations” exam which is one of the exams required for the VCP-DCV 2020 certification. Upon passing the class you will receive a discount voucher to be used towards this exam and also provides the requirement to “attend one of the required training courses” for the VCP certification. Your instructor is a VMware Certified Instructor with many years of experience with many vSphere products.
